Peggy Porschen is every instagrammers dream. With seasonal flower archways, endless pink decor and patterned coffee art – why wouldn’t it be? Following on from my afternoon tea reviews, here is my experience of the infamous Peggy Porschen.
Located a brief walk away from Victoria Station, Peggy Porschen has become renowned for its collection of cakes. The exterior is decorated with different flowers depending on the season ranging from valentines displays to hidden Easter eggs. Be warned, you may well be faced with a queue of bloggers waiting for their dream photo outside the cafe.
When to Visit?
We decided to visit late afternoon on a Tuesday to avoid the large queues that build up at the weekend. It is worth saving your visit for a day that the sun is shining (not that there are many of them in the UK). Eating your cupcakes outside makes the experience and also cuts down the queue for a table.
What to Order?
It wouldn’t be a trip to Peggy Porschen without one of their infamous cupcakes. This is what makes the experience. They have so many creative flavours of cupcakes to choose from including Eton Mess and Chocolate Heaven. The layered cakes are also incredible, decorated like work of arts you will want to take a photo of these. The coffees come with a variety of chocolate sprinkle patterns and taste amazing too.
Peggy Porschen is without a doubt the dream cafe for anyone who loves pink. Make sure you stop by when you are passing through London and let me know what you think!
To those who know me it is no surprise to them that I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift. From writing and releasing her first album at the age of 16, over ten years later Taylor has managed to stay grounded despite all of her infinite success. For those of you who aren’t Swifties, bear with me because you might be surprised. Here are five life lessons that everyone can learn from Taylor Swift:
1) Surround Yourself with Your Own Fan Club:
Taylor Swift brings her family on her world tours all around the world. She makes time for her close friends, family and fans. Surrounding yourself with the people who mean the most to you and support you can help you to achieve even the most challenging goals. Sometimes the best way to overcome obstacles is by having an unconditional support network.
2) Take Time Out When You Need It:
Taylor has spoken out publicly recently about why she had a break from her career. It’s also rare now that you’ll see photos of her mixing with other celebrities and doing press interviews. At times everything can get overwhelming and it is fine to take a step back from your goals for your well-being. It’s important to appreciate good work-life balance and find the time to do the small things in life you enjoy.
3) Always Make Time to be Kind to Others:
“No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.” – Taylor Swift
It seems that Taylor Swift doesn’t care who you are, how “famous” you are or whether you are someone worth talking to, she will make the effort anyway. She’s often seen shaking hands with security guards, police officers and those who organise the infamous red carpet events she attends. Even during her hectic tour schedules she takes the time out to visit sick fans in hospital, send charities donations and invite foster children to previews of her shows.
Fitting in time to look out for other people, give back to the community and thinking about how you make other people feel changes your whole outlook on life. People will always remember how you make them feel so take the opportunity to make someones day.
4) Focus On the Work and Everything Will Fall Into Place:
I’m not even going to try and explain this one as Taylor’s speech when she won album of the year speaks for itself:
“I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who, will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you will know it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.” – Taylor Swift
5) Don’t Be Held Back by How Others See You:
It is difficult to ignore how people perceive you and not to worry about the opinion of others. There will always be people on the side lines who don’t understand you but contemplating them too much will hold you back from achieving your goals. Take the high road, ignore them as success speaks for itself.
“I think that the lesson is that you shouldn’t care so much if you feel misunderstood by a lot of people who don’t know you, as long as you feel understood by the people who do know you — the people who will show up for you, the people who see you as a human being.” – Taylor Swift
Whether you are a Taylor Swift fan or not let me know what you think in the comments below. I’m seeing her in London at the Reputation tour soon, be sure to check back for a post about my experience!
